Scientific name: Mimulus ringens

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1" (2.5 cm) long
    Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Wet meadows, marshes and stream banks

Description: Blue-purple 2-lipped flowers arise
in pairs on short stalks from leaf axils. Upper corolla lip is 2-lobed, lower lip is 3-lobed; "throat" is partially closed with a yellow ridged palate so that flower is thought to resemble a monkey's face. Opposite leaves 2-4" (5 to 10 cm) long clasp the square stem. Leaves
rounded to lanceolate. Figwort family. (July 19)
