Calico Aster

Common name: Calico Aster
(Starved Aster)

Scientific name: Aster lateriflorus

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/4-1/2" (8mm-15mm) wide
    Plant height: 1-5' (30-150 cm)

Blooming period: August-October

Habitat: Open woods, thickets, fields

Description: Several small flower heads with 9-15 white or pale purple rays around a yellow or purplish-red central disk on widely divergent branches. Leaves 2-6" (5-15 cm) long, lanceolate, usually with coarse teeth, especially near the middle. Basal leaves stalked, upper leaves sessile. Aster family. (August 27)
