Common name: Blue Flag Iris

Scientific name: Iris versicolor

Dimensions:
    Flower: 2 ½-4" (6.5-10 cm) wide
    Plant height: 2-3' (60-90 cm)

Blooming period: May-August

Habitat: Swamps, marshes, wet shorelines

Description: Sword-shaped basal leaves
6-30" (15-75 cm) long with 2-4 flowers
having 3 erect petals and 3 down-turned,
spreading sepals. Sepals are boldly veined
and typically have greenish-yellow spot at
their base. Iris family. (May 31)
