Blue Vervain

Common name: Blue Vervain

Scientific name: Verbena hastata

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/8" (3mm) wide
    Plant height: 1-6' (30-180 cm)

Blooming period: July-September

Habitat: Damp thickets, wet meadows,
shorelines and roadsides

Description: Branching spikes of numerous small 5-petaled flowers that bloom a few at a time. Each flower has a 5-lobed corolla, 4 stamens and 1 pistil. Leaves are 4-6" (10-15 cm) long, opposite, lanceolate, toothed. Vervain family. (August 15)
