White Water Buttercup

Common name: White Water Buttercup

Scientific name: Ranunculus trichophyllus

Dimensions:
  Flower: ½-¾" (1.5-2 cm) wide
  Plant height: Submersed, elongated

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Ponds and streams

Description: Small, white, 5-petaled flowers that bloom just above the water surface on submersed, elongated, branched stems; 10-25 stamens. Leaves submersed, dissected in 2s or 3s into soft slender, thread-like (filiform) segments that collapse when with-drawn from the water. Buttercup family. (July 15)
