Common name: Clammy Ground-Cherry

Scientific name: Physalis heterophylla

Dimensions:
    Flower: 3/4-1" (2-2.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Dry woods and clearings

Description: Greenish-yellow bell-shaped flowers with a purplish-brown center; flowers axillary, on short (under 1/2" (1.5 cm)) stalks; 5-lobed corolla; 5 stamens with yellow anthers. Leaves 1-4" (2.5-10 cm) long, ovate to heart- shaped, few coarse teeth on edge. Stems covered with sticky hairs. Nightshade family. (August 19)
