Common name: Common Blackberry

Scientific name: Rubus allegheniensis

Dimensions:
    Flower: 3/4-1" (2-2.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 3-8' (90-240 cm)

Blooming period: May-July

Habitat: Meadows, weedy areas, clearings, and roadsides

Description: Flowers in elongated clusters along a central stem; 5 petals longer than the 5 sepals; many stamens. Prickly/thorny stems. Flower stalks have sticky hairs. Leaves are palmately compound usually with 5 leaflets. Blackberries are divided my botanists into 200 or more species. Rose family. (June 2)
