Common name: Common Buttercup

Scientific name: Ranunculus acris

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2-1½" (1.5-3 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: May-September

Habitat: Fields, meadows, disturbed areas

Description: Erect, usually hairy branching plant topped with shiny yellow flowers; 5 petals, 5 sepals spreading and greenish; petals longer than sepals; numerous stamens and pistils. Basal leaves 1-4" (2.5-10 cm) wide, stalk-less, divided into 3-7 deeply cleft parts; upper leaves smaller. Buttercup family. (May 23)
