Common name: Common Cinquefoil

Scientific name: Potentilla simplex

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/4-1/2" (6-12 mm) wide
    Plant height: Runners 6-20" (15-50 cm)

Blooming period: May-July

Habitat: Fields, dry open woods

Description: Flowers solitary on long stalks from leaf axils. Leaves on separate stems, palmately divided, alternate on reddish, slightly hairy stems. Leaflets toothed for three-quarters of their length, elliptic or narrowly oval, broader toward tip, 1/2-3" (1-7.5 cm) long. Rose family. (May 26)
