Scientific name: Verbascum thapsus

Dimensions:
    Flower: 3/4-1" (2-2.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 2-7' (60-210 cm)

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Fields, roadsides, weedy places, hillsides and old fields

Description: Tightly packed, slightly irregular yellow flowers in spike-like clusters on a coarse, woolly plant. Flowers very short-stalked or stalk-less; 5 united petals, 5 stamens, 1 pistil. Leaves 4-12" (10-30 cm) long, soft-velvety,; basal leaves larger and stalked; upper leaves small and un-stalked. Figwort family. (July 22)
