Cow Vetch

Common name: Cow Vetch (Blue Vetch)

Scientific name: Vicia cracca

    Flower: 1/2" (1.5 cm) long
    Plant height: Vine, up to 4' (1.2 m) long

Blooming period: May-August

Habitat: Roadsides and fields

Description: Climbing vine with violet-
blue "pea" flowers on one-sided, crowded
spikes. Gray-green compound leaves,
pinnately compound, with 14-24 leaflets
each 1" (2.5 cm) long. Bean family.
