Common name: Cow Wheat

Scientific name: Melampyrum lineare

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/4-1/2" (6-12 mm) long
    Plant height: 4-16" (10-40 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Woods, bogs, peaty soils, rocky areas

Description: Tubular, 2-lipped white and yellow flowers solitary on short stalks in upper leaf axils; upper corolla lip 2-lobed, white, arched; lower lip 3-lobed, yellow; 4 stamens. Leaves 3/4-2½" (2-6.5 cm) long, opposite, lanceolate to ovate, often with 1-2 pointed teeth at base. Figwort family. (July 13)
