Scientific name: Veronicastrum virginicum

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¼-3/8" (6-9 mm) wide
  Plant height: 3-7' (90-210 cm)

Blooming period: June - September

Habitat: Rich woods and meadows, roadsides, thickets

Description: White or purplish tubular flowers in long (2-6", 5-15 cm) dense, tapering spikes; 4 sepals, 4 petals, 2 projecting stamens. Leaves lance-shaped (lanceolate) to narrowly oval, 1½-6" (3.5-15 cm) long in whorls of 3-7, sharply toothed, short-stalked. Only two species found in the genus Veronicastrum, the other being in Siberia. Figwort family. (August 6)
