Dimensions:
  Flower: ½"-2" (1.5-5 cm) wide
  Plant height: 2-18" (5-45 cm)

Blooming period: April-September

Habitat: Lawns, fields, roadsides, weedy areas

Description: Solitary flower heads composed of numerous yellow rays with jagged tips on top of long, hollow, un-branched milky stalk. Outer bracts at base of flower head turned downward. Leaves are basal, 2-10" (5-25 cm) long, narrowly oval, deeply lobed and irregularly toothed. Young leaves have been used as greens since Colonial times. Aster family. (May 5)
