Common name: Diapensia

Scientific name: Diapensia lapponica

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2" (1.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-3" (2.5-7.5 cm)

Blooming period: June-July

Habitat: Alpine areas of White Mountains on or under barren ledges

Description: White, bell-shaped flowers singly on short stalks; 5 yellow stamens fastened between 5 roundish lobes of the corolla. Cushion-like tufts of evergreen leaves; leaves up to 3/4" long, leathery, in tight basal rosettes. Diapensia family. (June 25)
