Common name: Dockmackie (Flowering Maple; Maple-leaved Viburnum)

Scientific name: Viburnum acerifolium

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¼" (6 mm) wide in clusters 2-3" (5-7.5 cm) wide
  Plant height: 3-6' (1-2 m)

Blooming period: May-June

Habitat: Moist to dry woods

Description: Small white uniform flowers in flat-topped clusters; 5 petals (5-lobed corolla). Maple-like leaves 2-5" (5-12.5 cm) long, opposite, 3-lobed, coarsely toothed, rounded or slightly heart-shaped at the base. Lower leaf surfaces and flower clusters with fine, star- shaped hairs (stellate). Fleshy purple-black fruit. In fall leaves turn distinctively purple- pink. Honeysuckle family. (June 17)
