Early Lowbush Blueberry

Common name: Early Lowbush Blueberry

Scientific name: Vaccinium augustifolium

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/4-1/2" (6-12 mm) long
    Plant height: 6-20" (15-50 cm)

Blooming period: May-June

Habitat: Dry woodlands with sandy or acidic soil; rocky soils on hillsides and mountain- sides

Description: Flowers are white to pinkish- white and bell-shaped with 5 pointed lobes that curve outward. Sessile leaves 1-1¼" (2.5-3 cm) long are lanceolate to oval, alternate, with finely- toothed red-tinged edges and a smooth upper and lower surface. Heath family. (May 23)
