False Solomon's Seal

Common name: False Solomon's Seal

Scientific name: Smilacina racemosa

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/8" (3 mm) long
    Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: May-July

Habitat: Woods and clearings

Description: Pyramidal panicle of many small white flowers at tip of arching stem; 3 petals; 3 petal-like sepals; 6 stamens. Oval, pointed leaves 3-6" long, alternate along gracefully reclining stem; leaves hairy beneath and along edges, noticeably parallel-veined. Lily family. (June 7)
