Common name: Fringed Loosestrife

Scientific name: Lysimachia ciliata

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2-1 (1.5-2.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-4' (30-129 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Wet thickets, swamps, shores, damp woods

Description: Solitary, usually nodding (facing downward) flowers with 5 fringed or slightly toothed petals on erect stems. Stamens: 5 fertile, 5 sterile. Leaves are opposite, lanceolate to ovate, 2-5' (5-12.5 cm) long, minutely toothed. Leafstalks fringed with spreading hairs. Primrose family. (July 19)
