Canada Goldenrod

Common name: Canada Goldenrod (Common Goldenrod)

Scientific name: Solidago canadensis

Dimensions:
  Flower: Up to 1/8" (4 mm) long
  Plant height: 1-6' (30-180 cm)

Blooming period: July-September

Habitat: Roadsides, thickets, clearings

Description: Clusters of bright yellow tiny flower heads in one-sided clusters that form a somewhat pyramidal arrangement on the top of the plant; each flower head with 10-17 petal-like rays, 2-8 disk flowers. Leaves 2½- 6" (6.5-15 cm) long, mostly on stem; triple- veined, veins parallel; narrowly oval or elliptic; alternate; stalkless; sharply toothed; slightly rough upper surface. Stem green, downy above middle of plant. Aster family. (July 27)
