Common name: New England Groundsel (Robbins Ragwort)

Scientific name: Senecio schweinitzianus (Senecio robbinsii)

Dimensions:
  Flower: ½-¾" (1.5-2 cm) wide
  Plant height: 12-30" (15-75 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Moist meadows, swampy woods, bogs

Description: Daisy-like or aster-like flower heads on long (>½" (1.5 cm)) stalks growing in branched, terminal clusters; flower rays 8-15; disk ¼-½" (6-15 mm) wide. Plants hairy when young, then hairless. Basal leaves lance-shaped or narrowly oval, long-stalked and toothed. Stem leaves smaller, sharply and usually finely toothed. Said to be toxic to humans and livestock. Aster family. (June 7)
