Common name: Harebell (Bluebell)

Scientific name: Campanula rotundifolia

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¾-1¼" (2-3 cm) long
  Plant height: 6-20" (15-50 cm)

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Rocky banks, shores, meadow, alpine areas

Description: Violet-blue, nodding, bell-shaped flowers at tips of wire-thin or hair-like stems singly or in clusters; 5 petal-like lobes form the corolla; sepals narrowly triangular; 5 stamens; stigma does not protrude beyond the petals. Stem leaves ½-3" (1-7.5 cm) long, alternate, numerous and very narrow, toothless; basal leaves broadly ovate, wither early, usually absent at time of flowering. Bellflower family. (July 3)
