Common name: Garden Loosestrife

Scientific name: Lysimachia vulgaris

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¾" (2 cm) wide
  Plant height: 2-3' (60-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Roadsides, thickets, weedy places

Description: Yellow flowers with 5 pointed petals and an orange center mostly in terminal clusters (panicles) but also from upper leaf axils. Leaves dotted (punctate), lance-shaped (lanceolate) to oval, whorled or opposite, 2-5" (5-12 cm) long, soft-hairy beneath. Stem hairy. Garden escapee, native of Eurasia. Primrose family.
