Wild Madder

Common name: Wild Madder

Scientific name: Galium mollugo

Dimensions:
  Flower: About 1/8" (4mm) wide
  Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Roadsides, fields, weedy places

Description: Numerous small, showy white flowers in close, loose terminal clusters on weak, usually erect smooth stems; 4 petals, 4 stamens, sepals absent. Leaves ½-1¼" (1.5-3 cm) long, mostly in whorls of 6 or 8; linear-oblong to lance-shaped but broader above the middle (oblanceolate). A native of Eurasia, this plant is now common if not prolific in New Hampshire. Madder family. (June 22)
