Common name: Moneywort

Scientific name: Lysimachia nummularia

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¾-1" (2-2.5 cm) wide
  Plant height: Creeper, stems 6-20" (15-50 cm) long

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Moist ground, roadsides, shorelines, weedy places, often in shade

Description: Bright yellow flowers solitary on slender stalks usually rising in pairs from the leaf axils; 5 petals, 5 stamens. Leaves opposite, shiny, round, ½-1" (1.5-2.5 cm) long, short-stalked, dotted. Species name originates from the Latin nummus (a coin) referring to the shape of the leaves. Primrose family.
