Common name: Common Mugwort

Scientific name: Artemisia vilgaris

Dimensions:
  Flower: 1/8-1/4" (3-6 mm) long
  Plant height: 2-4' (60-120 cm)

Blooming period: July-October

Habitat: Fields, roadsides, weedy places

Description: Small, aromatic dull red flower heads, all disk flowers, on erect branching elongated clusters (panicles). Leaves 2-4" (5-10 cm) long, principal ones deeply lobed nearly to the midrib in unequal segments that are again toothed or lobed; leaves aromatic, green above, silvery-downy beneath. Plant stem generally hairless (glabrous). A native of Europe, it is a weedy, invasive plant that is difficult to remove. Aster family. (August 27)
