Common name: Red Osier-dogwood

Scientific name: Cornus sericea (also cornus stolonifera)

Dimensions:
  Flower: About ¼" (6 mm) wide in clusters 1-2" (2.5-5 cm) wide
  Plant height: 3-10' (1-3 m)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Wet places, shores, thickets

Description: Small, creamy white flowers in flat-topped clusters on deep red, smooth twigs. Flowers with 4 tiny sepals and 4 petals. Leaves 2-4" (5-10 cm) long, opposite, egg-shaped (ovate), pale under with 5-7 pairs of curving veins. Pith of young leaf stems white. Dogwood family. (June 26)
