Common name: English Plantain

Scientific name: Plantago juncoides

Dimensions:
  Flower: About 1/8" (3 mm) long
  Plant height: 6-20" (15-50 cm)

Blooming period: June-October

Habitat: weedy places, lawns, roadsides

Description: Tiny greenish-white flowers on dense oval spikes spirally arranged on top of long, leafless stalk; 4-lobed corolla, 4 white, protruding stamens. Leaves slender, 3-ribbed, 4-16" (10-40 cm) long, narrowly elliptic or narrowly oval, forming a rosette at the plant's base. Naturalized from Europe. Leaves are a favorite food for rabbits. Plantain family. (June 26)
