Swamp Rose

Common name: Swamp Rose

Scientific name: Rosa palustris

Dimensions:
  Flower: 3" (7.5 cm) wide
  Plant height: 1-7' (30-210 cm)

Blooming period: July-August

Habitat: Swamps, marshes, stream-banks

Description: Pale pink flowers solitary or in small simple clusters on branched stems; 5 petals and many stamens; bristly calex. Pinnately compound leaves, alternate, dull green, commonly with 7 finely-toothed leaflets, narrowly elliptic to oblong-lance-shaped (oblanceolate). Very narrow stipules (leaf-like appendages) at leaf-stalk base. Spines (thorns) hooked. Rose family. (July 10)
