Bristly Sarsaparilla

Common name: Bristly Sarsaparilla (Lingonberry)

Scientific name: Aralia hispida

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¼" (6 mm) long
  Plant height: 1-4' (30-120 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Dry, rocky or sandy open woods, clearings

Description: Small white flowers in several terminal, rounded umbels on stalks above the leaves. Stems are sharply bristly at the base. Leaves are 2-times pinnately compound, leaflets up to 4" (10 cm) long, oblong to ovate or lanceolate, sharply toothed. Ginseng family. (June 17)
