Siberian Squill

Common name: Siberian Squill

Scientific name: Scilla sibirica

Dimensions:
  Flower: 3/8-1/2" (1-1½ cm) long
  Plant height: 4-8" (10-20 cm)


Blooming period: March-April

Habitat: Moist rich areas and open woods

Description: One to three deep blue tubular or bell-shaped flowers on short racemes. The "petals" are actually sepals and have a single nerve. Linear leaves are 4-6" (10-15 cm) long. This "garden escape", occasionally found in New Hampshire, is one of the first flowers of spring. Hyacinth family. (April 17)
