Common name: Slender Ladies' Tresses

Scientific name: Spiranthes gracilis

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2" (1.5 cm) long
    Plant height: 6-24" (15-60 cm)

Blooming period: August-September

Habitat: Dry to moist meadows, open woods, fields, roadsides

Description: A hairless spike of small, cream- white flowers in a single spiral row; spikes 1¼-6" (3-15 cm) tall; sepals spreading, elliptic; petals linear; bright green spot on lip. Basal leaves egg-shaped 3/4-2" (2-5 cm) long, or absent. Orchid family. (August 18)
