Scientific name: Nuphar advena

Dimensions:
  Flower: 1½-2" (3-5 cm) thick
  Plant height: Leaves 8-20" (20-50 cm) above water surface

Blooming period: June-September

Habitat: Swamps, sluggish steams, tidewater, rarely ponds

Description: Globular yellow flowers, at or up to several inches above the water surface, made up of 6 fleshy sepals with concealed stamen-like petals and greenish disk-like stigma in center. Unlike the Bullhead Lily, the oval or round deeply-notched leaves are erect above the water, rarely floating. Leaves 5-16" (12.5-40 cm) long. Water Lily family. (June 24)
