Common name: Spiderwort

Scientific name: Tradescantia virginiana

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1"-2" (2.5-5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 8-24" (20-60 cm)

Blooming period: April-July

Habitat: Woodland borders, meadows, roadsides and thickets

Description: Blue to purple flowers with bright yellow stamens in terminal clusters; long, narrow leaf-like bracts; sepals and flower stalks hairy. Leaves up to 15" (38 cm) long and narrow with center-fold forming a channel. Spiderwort family. (July 6)
