Common name: Spotted Knapweed

Scientific name: Centaurea maculosa

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2-1" (1.5-2.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-4' (30-120 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Fields, weedy places, roadsides

Description: Many branched, wiry-stemmed
plant with lavender, ray-less thistle-like flower heads. At base of flower heads are black-fringed bracts. Leaves 4-8" (10-20 cm) long at base, pinnately compound or lobed, less dissected and smaller near top. Aster family. (August 18)
