Common name: Starflower

Scientific name: Trientalis borealis

Dimensions:
    Flower: About 1/2" (1.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 3-9" (7.5-22.5 cm)

Blooming period: May-June

Habitat: Sub-alpine mountaintops; rich woods and bogs

Description: One or more fragile white flowers, star-shaped with 5-9 (usually 7) pointed petals on thread-like stalks; typically 7 stamens with golden anthers. Leaves 1½-4" (4-10 cm) long, shiny, lanceolate, in a single whorl of 5-10. Primrose family. (May 23)
