Common name: Starry False Solomon's Seal

Scientific name: Smilacina stellata

Dimensions:
  Flower: ¼" (6 mm) wide
  Plant height: 8-24" (20-60 cm)

Blooming period: May-June

Habitat: Moist open places, sandy woods and banks, open shores

Description: Several white, starry flowers alternately attached in an un-branched cluster 1-2" (2.5-5 cm) long on a finely hairy or glabrous solitary stem; each flower has 6 petal- like segments and 6 curved stamens. Leaves 2½-6" (6-15 cm) long, lance-shaped, clasp alternately on the zigzag stem. Lily family. (May 6)
