Stiff Aster

Common name: Stiff Aster

Scientific name: Aster linariifolius

Dimensions:
     Flower: 1/2--1 (1.5-2.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 4-24" (10-60 cm)

Blooming period: August-October

Habitat: Dry ground, open woods, especially sandy soil

Description: Several flower heads of pale blue-violet rays surrounding a yellow central disk, atop stiff leafy stalks in compact tufts (tussock). Leaves 3/4-1" (2-4 cm) long, stiff and numerous, dark green, linear. Aster family. (September 5)
