Common name: Round-leaved Sundew

Scientific name: Drosera rotundifolia

Dimensions:
  Flower: About 1/4" (6 mm) wide
  Plant height: 4-9" (10-22.5 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Bogs and marshes

Description: White or pink flowers that open one at a time in a one-sided cluster on leafless stalks; 5 petals. The basal rosette of small round leaves, 1/2" (1.5 cm) long, covered with reddish glandular hairs that exude a sticky juice, like tiny dewdrops, that trap insects. This carnivorous plant is able to survive on trapped insects in otherwise nutrient-poor environments. Sundew family. (July 17)
