Scientific name: Oenothera tetragona

Dimensions:
  Flower: About 1-2" (2.5-5 cm) wide
  Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Fields and open woods

Description: Large yellow flowers on a leafy stalk; flowers open during the day on this primrose family member. Flower heads have 4 slightly notched petals; 4 sepals; cross-shaped stigma in center of 8 orange stamens. Leaves 1-4" (2.5-10 cm) long, oval to lance-shaped, sharply pointed, entire or with spreading, pointed teeth. Primrose family. (July 8)
