Common name: Swamp Candle
(Yellow Loosestrife, Bog Loosestrife)

Scientific name: Lysimachia terrestris

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/2" (1.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Marshes, wet thickets, grassy shores

Description: A slender terminal raceme of small, yellow, star-like flowers with 2 red spots at base of each petal; 5 petals; 5 stamens. Leaves usually paired, 1½-4" (4-10 cm) long, lanceolate, pointed at both ends; reddish bulblets often found in the leaf axils after flowering. Primrose family. (July 28)
