Scientific name: Polygonum sagittatum

Dimensions:
  Flower: About 1/8" (4 mm) wide
  Plant height: 2-6' (60-180 cm)

Blooming period: July-September

Habitat: Wet meadows, marshes, swamps

Description: Pink or white flowers on short , head-like spikes at the end of branches and at the base of leafstalks; flowers have 5 petal-like sepals. Narrowly arrow-shaped leaves, 1-4" (2.5-10 cm) long, alternate, with smooth margin and weak prickles on midrib on underside. Tiny barbs along the stems and leaf stalks. Buckwheat family. (August 1)
