Common name: Canadian Tick-trefoil (Showy Tick-trefoil)

Scientific name: Desmodium canadense

Dimensions:
  Flower: ½" (1.5 cm) long
  Plant height: 2-6' (60-180 cm)

Blooming period: July-August

Habitat: Moist soil, thickets, river banks

Description: Densely flowered elongated terminal clusters of rose-purple pea flowers on flower stalks up to ?" (8 mm) long. Leaves pinnately compound, clover-like, alternate; leaflets oblong, 2-4" (5-10 cm) long, hairy with hairs lying close to leaf surface. Plant stem downy. Pea family. (July 20)
