White Baneberry

Common name: White Baneberry (Doll's Eyes)

Scientific name: Actaea pachypoda

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/8-1/4" (3-6 mm) wide
    Plant height: 1-2½' (30-75 cm)

Blooming period: May-June

Habitat: Rich woodlands and thickets

Description: Dense oblong cluster of many small white flowers on erect stem; 4-10 narrow petals; numerous stamens; 1 pistil. Large, alternate, compound leaves; leaflets up to 4" (10 cm) long, toothed. Fruit white with dark spot suggesting doll's eyes, thus the popular name. Crowfoot family. (May 23)
