Whorled Loosestrife

Common name: Whorled Loosestrife

Scientific name: Lysimachia quadrifolia

Dimensions:
    Flower: About 1/2" (1.5 cm) wide
    Plant height: 1-3' (30-90 cm)

Blooming period: June-August

Habitat: Dry or most open woods and roadsides, thickets and fields

Description: Delicate, yellow, stalked, star-like flowers in the axils of whorled leaves. Flowers dotted around the center with red. Single pistil protrudes beyond the 5 stamens. Leaves 2-4" (5-10 cm) in whorls of 3-6, lanceolate. Primrose family. (July 5)
