Yellow Wood Sorrel

Common name: Yellow Wood Sorrel

Scientific name: Oxalis stricta

Dimensions:
    Flower: 1/4-1/2" (7-15 mm) wide
    Plant height: 4-15" (10-38 cm)

Blooming period: May-October

Habitat: weedy places, roadsides and fields;
common garden weed

Description: Yellow flowers and clover-like leaves on a more-or-less erect stem. Flowers have 5 petals, 10 stamens, and an erect, pencil-like pistil; close at night. Leaves palmately divided into 3 heart-shaped leaflets, each 1/2-3/4" (1.5-2 cm) wide. Wood Sorrel family. (June 20)
